What are the laws regarding managing residential property in Louisiana?

I want to know if you have to be a licensed realtor in the disorder of Louisiana (or any other disorder) to own a residential property management company? I have worked in the apartment diligence for many years and want to start to manage residential property for individuals. Any insight would be fantastic! Thank you!

Most states require a real estate broker’s license to operate such a company. The reason is that you will be handling the monies of others in a real estate transaction, and you are also expected to be fully trained in housing discrimination issues.

Yes, you need to be licensed. It is not legal to manage property you do not own without a brokers license.

Yes you need to be licensed. First, you’ll need to sign up for a realtor course and get yourself licensed.
