I would like to start a Property Management company, but I do not know where to start, can some one help?
Will I need to be certified to open a Property Management business, if so I live in Chicago where should I go to find a program to get certified, is there any prior education I should have? where do I start!!!
All I want to do is “mind” if you will, the individuals prorerty, collect the rent, maintain the yard, take resedent complaints, and so on.
In order to be a property manager you need to be a licenced real estate broker.
What type of Property Management will you be dependability? if you will be handling rentals you will need to get a real estate license. If you will just be managing properties then you don’t. Have you ever worked in Property Managment before? I work for a property management company that just handles Homeowners Associations. THis is simpler then handling party homes. But most Associations will not give over their money unless you can show that you have experience. Now if you will just be handling houses for out of town owners, then I would assume that you would just need to advertise, maybe leave flyers in the doors? get a couple of homes and try to get business through word of mouth.
You have to have a real estate BROKERS license. You have to work as a licensed real estate agent for 2 years before you can take the test for your brokers license.
