I am interest in property management in my area, how can I start my P.M. business and promote it?
I live in Florida and want to get in the business of managing people’s property, ie snow birds. I am a skilled carpenter as well as a well rounded jack of all trades and I have obtained my B.A. last year. How can I start this endeavor?
Many states require that at least one employee or partner has a real estate license in order to be a property manager.
You will need to check with the Florida Department of Real Estate to see if this is the case in Florida.
Just do a search for “Florida Dept. of Real Estate” in quotes and you will find the main website.
If you get by the legal requirements, look for real estate investor groups or REI’s in your area. You can do a search for real estate investor group in (add your city here).
If you can’t find one, contact AZREIA.org and they should be able to help you find one in your local area.

I would start by advertising ads in the local newspaper and phone book. Also craigslist you can post stuff for free to get yourself vacant. Craigslist is a fantastic way to post ads for free and many many people look for stuff like that. As far as where to go to talk to people about property management i cant help you.
