how can you decorate a rental property to your liking?
my family is getting equipped to go into a leasing property but they are all so bland and yucky and have no charachter. any thoughts on how to spruce it up for low-cost?
take some black paint and paint the walls..then get
some sharp orange and use your hands to place your print the world over ceiling walls..then buy a blacklight…then buy some bean bags and place around room…sharp colors like yellow,white,orange hand some beads at the entrance to your room use metalic colors.and then buy yourself a small table and place a lava lamp on it…your bed get rid of it and buy yourself a futon…..

The trick is getting your family to go a small out of their comfort zone. I recommend starting with paint and making it a collaborative process- don’t go for jarring, but make sure it’s not white (or off-white for that topic). Pick a very lite shade of something with a small like (like yellow for example). Henry is right on. As a landlord, I want to know what you intend to do. I reserve the right to veto any plot. I also may require you to restore the place to its original condition if and when you go…at your cost. I’m pretty flexible but there are limits…and I despise surprises.
Having lived in military housing for more years than I want to remember, I have a few thoughts for you. The best thought that I ever used was starching fabric to the wall. You can get whatever fabric you like that is cotton (smooth talk, velvet and heavy fabrics will not work). Flat sheets provide the most fabric for the cheapest cost and come in a variety of colors and prints. Buy liquid starch, not the spray kind, and place it in a excellent size bucket. Place your fabric in the bucket of starch and saturate the fabric. Wring it out very well and then you can pin the notes to the top of your wall and smooth the notes out the same way that you would wallpaper (remove the pins when the fabric is dry). If you have multiple pieces of fabric, overlap the seams to allow for decrease. Allow the fabric to dry and you have “wallpaper”. When you get equipped to go out, simply take the fabric off of the wall, wash it and reuse it at your next place. There will be unquestionably no hurt to your wall. (Note, some dark colors will bleed and can leave some color on your wall, so keep that in mind when you are choosing your color.) I own a house now, but my son wanted to keep his manga soccer player “mural” that he had in Korea. I painted his room blue and starched the fabric onto the wall and it looks as if I had a mural painted on his wall. I can send you pictures if you would like. This method also works if you want to place up a fabric border.
