    Why would you place down a deposit on an apt you’ve never seen. If you gave them a deposit, they have each right to keep it.

    There are certain fees that must be paid in advance, such as a CREDIT CHECK fee. If the potential tenant has terrible credit, why would the landlord rent to them? It helps to know this up front, to weed out potential deadbeat tenants.
